The Future of the Human Genome Project Essay -- Science Genetics Biolo
The Future of the Human Genome Project Can you imagine knowing your own genetic code? Going into the doctor for a routine physical and leaving with the knowledge of your genetic downfalls so that you may prevent disease and cancers. This may seem unbelievable but it is likely to be implemented in the near future. Since the start of the human genome project, the medical community has been anxiously awaiting its completion because the applications it has to this field are obviously enormous. However, we still have much to learn about genetic variability and the information we gain can be used to prevent, repair, and eradicate illness. About fifteen years ago at a conference near Salt Lake City, the Department of Energy brought up a question that would change the face of science, more specifically molecular genetics. They questioned why there was no DNA research on the way mutations are detected and they decided to change that. Thus, the Human Genome Project was born. Actually there was a lot more planning to do before the work began, ranging from the technical aspects to developing a separate commission dealing with the ethical issues. Eight years after officially starting the project, the public is in awe of what has been accomplished. The projected goal is to have an accurate, complete sequence of human DNA by the year 2003, two years sooner than previously expected (Collins, 1998). The reason for the project is on schedule is that innovative techniques are being applied in DNA sequencing that are more cost effective as well as more efficient. The discovery of new techniques, as well as developing extensive genetic and physical maps have been the primary goals of the project. A detailed genetic map will enable scienti... ...ring in our lives. The question is, "Are we ready for them?" References 1- Human Genome Project Information. Article Public Opinion of Police by Different Ethnic Group Essay
Down though the years there has always been tension and an on and off relationship between the community they serve and law enforcement agencies. And as with any relationship between two people there are misunderstanding, break-up and disagreements and the same is with the relationship between the community and its law enforcement agencies but just with any relationship at dayââ¬â¢s end both the community and law enforcement have and share common concerns such as justice and deterrence. With many of communities in America being incursion of immigrants within the last few decades; with this incursion of immigrants many communities are being bombard with so many new language and cultures diversity. Because of this wide range of ethnicity now living within many the walls of our communities and society on a whole now have different opinions and views of law enforcement. Now due to the various ethnicities flooding our communities the author will investigate how a few of these ethnicity groups like: African Americans, Asians and the Hispanics neighborhoods views racial profiling, discrimination and past experience with law enforcement agencies. Taking a look at the traumatized relationship and association between the two, as well as the interaction and reaction from the law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve. Since the conception of the law enforcement agencies race has long since been a vital playing card in policing. Even with the knowledge, awareness and understanding of this there has been some improvement but not enough. Racial opus of law enforcement alongside the racial outline of arrest, the raise in the number of arrest of non- minority like ââ¬Å"Caucasianâ⬠by non-white law enforcement officers, while there were lower numbers of arrest by the same officers on other ethnic groups. On the flip side of that coin, more. ââ¬Å"Caucasianâ⬠officers had a boost in the number of non-white arrest in comparison to the number of arrest involving ââ¬Å"Caucasiansâ⬠. Race has been a polarizingelement the in the society of America for years. And this is every so prevalent within the criminal justice system. Clashes involving both the communities and law enforcement are the flashpoint for practically every current inner- city riot. Ethnic Groups The raise of culture variety and immigration has from time to time made interaction with law enforcement difficult. Hispanics and Asian neighborhoods are often apprehensive of law enforcement officers due to their past occurrence. Their past incidents vary from their motherland of origin that was overwhelmed by civil unrest and war. This included exploitation of power by those of authority as well as much dishonesty within law enforcement agencies of that country. For this cause many minorities groups have a apprehension and more often than not an aversion to law enforcement officers. Like within the Hispanic neighborhoods, they often feel that law enforcement agents differentiates them by racial profiling them all because of their nationality. In Arizona this is a very contentious SB 1070 unlawful migration bill that passed given law enforcement agents the power and authority to inquire of certain individual (Hispanic) of proof of documentation of legal right to be in America. This law is being adopted in other states as well like New Jersey and Texas, any where there is a high population of Hispanics. IthasbeenreportedbytwoethnicgroupsAfricanAmericansandHispanic/Latinos affirm subordinate levels of agreement concerning their relationship with police officers as compared to those of their counterpart ââ¬Å"Caucasiansâ⬠. African Americans and Hispanic/Latinos claims that there is less willingness to obey and to follow orders given by authorities especially of Caucasian origin. Racial profiling has consistently been one of the most confounding, divisive and controversial issues the police department confronts. A perception that police target members of specific ethnic or racial groups creates a deep divide between the police and the communities we serve. But as an officer who has spent a lot of time patrolling the cityââ¬â¢s streets, I just donââ¬â¢t think the perception is accurate. (Dutta, 2010) True racial profiling, in which people are targeted solely because of race or ethnicity, is both illegal and immoral. It destroys public trust and reduces the effectiveness of the police. There is no place for it in law enforcement. And I firmly believe that most LAPD officers support that viewpoint. Even the reported statement of the officer that he couldnââ¬â¢t do his job without racial profiling was most likely misinterpreted. (Dutta, 2010) Differentiation between minorities and Caucasians is how they relate and response to law enforcement agents and how fairly or unjustly he or she feels their treatment was. This is a how many African Americans and Hispanic/Latinos responded when asked by authorities regarding their relationship with law enforcement agencies this is less equality than when Caucasians reported.

A Push for Safer Crosswalks for RACC Students and Faculty...
In this modern day and age many drivers and pedestrians alike become easily distracted by: cell phones, I-Pods, navigation systems, as well as many other distractions. These distractions can make it quite dangerous to even cross the street. It is quite shocking how worn and faded some of the crosswalks at RACC have become. Even without the distractions the crosswalks are rather difficult to see and be able to stop if a pedestrian steps into it. The crosswalks at RACC connect the main campus with the parking lots, as well as other buildings, and classes just off campus. Having a student population of almost 5,000 undergraduate students in addition to its full faculty and staff, a large majority of these people have no choice but to parkâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Therefore while they are distracted and driving their focus must alternate between whatever other task is at hand and driving. This draws their attention away from the road, which can potentially lead to an accident. A cro sswalk is generally designed to provide a safe path for pedestrians to cross by marking the designated path that people can cross and in which motorist should be able to see. ââ¬Å"Shouldâ⬠is the keyword, because as the paint fades, chips, and wears from traffic; the path becomes harder for motorist to see. The consequence of this is a driver will be less aware that someone may step into the road trying to cross at these points. Laws and legislation are beginning to crack down on these drivers but the roads are still a dangerous place for a person to be. There are a multitude of options to increase the safety at cross walks. ââ¬Å"A pilot program in Virginia, which is based off of similarly designed programs oversea, uses zigzagged lines painted on the road at dangerous crossingsâ⬠( Woodward, 2009). The idea is that the lines will draw a motoristââ¬â¢s attention to the road, the upcoming crosswalk, and they become aware of the potential for pedestrians to be crossing. Placing a crossing guard at each crosswalk could serve the dual

Master Management course personal statement Example
Essays on Master Management course personal statement Personal Statement Master Management personal ment Master Management personal ment For one to succeed in any area having the relevant skills is very vital. In that aspect, possession of good management skills is very essential to any manager, whether one is in charge of managing a small, medium, and large, or even oneself. The world has become one small global village and the market has also become very competitive and this shows success is pegged in ideal decision-making. I have always wanted to become a very successful business person. At first I did not know the type of course that would enable me to become a successful business meet this desire. After a careful course research, I settled for business management. In that aspect I have endeavored to gain as much knowledge as possible in almost all fields that relate to business studies. This is why I feel that it is time I took a management course. I come from a family that values business very much, as a result the family business has been handed down from one generation to another. In those years there have been some incidences where the business almost collapsed because of poor management by the people in charge. My dad and grandfather have done a commendable job in ensuring that the business has stayed afloat and very soon I will be the one to take over the mantle. It is in that respect that I feel that to be better equipped to handle the challenges that come along with any business, taking a course will be very beneficial. Internship is very vital to any student as it gives the student the chance to ââ¬Å"feel the real thing.â⬠Even though I have spent most of all the free time helping out in the family business I had not experienced how it felt to work for somebody else. In my undergraduate course I was taking math and computing, but the experience that I had when working for a certain firm contributed to my decision of wanting to study business management. I never thought math and computing were very vital in any business until I discovered some errors in very vital calculations. The owner of the business one day asked me to help him out to do some calculations as he was of the opinion that his firm was running at a loss. During the calculations realized that the man was making a lot of errors in calculations during calculations. Apparently he was doing all the calculations manually as he did not know more about computing. It was at this point that I realized that I had to learn more about mana gement to ensure that I do not make costly mistakes in the family business in the future. Taking a course in management allows the student to take an internship job for about two months; this offers the student an excellent opportunity to experience the real work. The students also have the chance to learn from the experts, thus enabling the student to gain more knowledge. I am convinced that being accorded the chance to take a course in management will prepare me more adequately to deal with any challenges that may arise while running the family business. Most of my free time was spent helping out with the running of the business; my father would assign me and my siblings, some light duties such as bringing things from the shelves. As we grew older the responsibilities became more complex. I would be given responsibilities to supervise some of the employees offloading goods from trucks and ensured that they were of the right quality and quantity. There were times when my father would go on a holiday and leave me and my uncle in charge of the business. At times, I had to make company decisions while my father was away. Starting my own business is not a priority currently or in the future; there are lots of opportunities available for determined graduates in sharpening their skills in trainee management positions. By sharpening my skills more as a trainee manager in a different firm will give me a broader outlook on how different management skills can be utilized in different situations. I feel that I would be an ideal candidate not only because of my academic credentials, but my love for numbers and a strong sense of decision making. In my undergraduate course I managed to attain a first class in math and computing. As a result of the significant interest in economics, I participated in the National Livewire Business Awards in the year 2009. This turned out to be a very productive venture as I learnt how to use accounting software to come up with business plans. The other benefit of participating in the awards was that I was able to know more about heuristics. As an international student, I have had the pleasure of studying in the U.K for the last six years, the experience of studying in the country has enabled me to find out things that I had not thought about before. Efficient management of anything is the key to success. I was able to learn that by efficiently managing some little things as time goes and this guaranteed success. Through time management, an individual can be able to achieve a lot. A course in management will help me become a productive person. Taking a course in management gives me the opportunity to meet some of the best mentors in the world in various fields. As an international student, I will have the opportunity to get an insight of some of the best British work practices as well as policies which might be very helpful in ensuring that I run a successful business in the future. In college, I had the opportunity to serve in some managing positions which were quite challenging. One of the positions is the Studentâ⬠â¢s Council treasurer position. As the treasurer I was in charge of different duties such as collecting of finances and managing of accounts. Through regular involvement in school events as well as entrepreneurship management, I have been able to learn the importance of collaborating with others and prioritize responsibilities. I feel that I am the ideal candidate to be accorded a place to pursue a management course. Based on my results and the passion that I have for business, I feel that I have the chance of making one of the best managers. My experience of the family business as played a vital role in showing that a good manager is a person who can relate well with the staff (McConnell 2010, 149). Armed with such strong beliefs and the passion for business as well as economics, I feel that taking on a management course will be the next rational step in terms of my education. My profession in the future is in business management and soon I will have to take over from my dad in running the business. In that respect, having some knowledge in management will go a long way in ensuring that the business runs smoothly. Reference List Mcconnell, C. R. (2010). Kindred by Octavia E. Butler Free Essays
Octavia Estelle Butler was an American science fiction writer, one of very few African-American women in the field. In 1979, she published Kindred, a novel which uses the science fiction technique of time travel to explore slavery in the United States. THESIS STATEMENT Butler takes on and redrafts the Slave narrative by portraying the true circumstances of slavery as a long dark period during which the blacks were denied individuality and even humanity. We will write a custom essay sample on Kindred by Octavia E. Butler or any similar topic only for you Order Now INTRODUCTION TO THE TEXT The novel relates the story of Dana, an African American woman living in 1976 who is repeatedly thrown back in time to the ante-bellum south. She is summoned by her ancestor, Rufus, from the time he is a child through to adulthood. Rufus is white and from a slave owning family. Dana is placed in the difficult position of making certain that Rufus and Alice have a child, Hagar, who is Danaââ¬â¢s direct ancestor Each time she travels back in time, she stays longer, and comes back only when her life is in danger. She stops getting sent back in time after she kills Rufus. Jobs assigned to the slaves in the house and in the fields Enslaved people had to clear new land, dig ditches, cut and haul wood, slaughter livestock, and make repairs to buildings and tools. In many instances, they worked as mechanics, blacksmiths, drivers, carpenters, and in other skilled trades. Black women carried the additional burden of caring for their families by cooking and taking care of the children, as well as spinning, weaving, and sewing. The family structure of the slaves and the social relationships among the slaves Slaves married, had children, and worked hard to keep their families together. Black men, women, and children developed an underground culture through which they affirmed their humanity. House servants would come down from the ââ¬Å"big houseâ⬠and give news of the master and mistress, or keep people laughing with their imitations of the whites. the relationship between slaves and their masters Because they lived and worked in such close proximity, house servants and their owners tended to form more complex relationships. Black and white children were especially in a position to form bonds with each other. Black children might also become attached to white caretakers, such as the mistress, and white children to their black nannies. Because they were so young, they would have no understanding of the system they were born into, as Dana reveals, ââ¬Å"Without knowing it, they prepared me to surviveâ⬠(pg94 Kindred) African American women had to endure the threat and the practice of sexual exploitation. There were no safeguards to protect them from being sexually stalked, harassed, or raped, or to be used as long-term concubines by masters and overseers. Soon after her last child is born, Alice runs away again because she fears that she will ââ¬Å"turn into just what people call herâ⬠(pg 235 Kindred). She fears that she will lose her sense of self and accept her position as sexual chattelâ⬠. CONCLUSION Since the beginning of anti-African American reaction through our existing contemporary society, slavery carries on to be a contentious and inconsistent issue.à Slavery affects each individual living within the United States borders and throughout our world.à No subject in the American past has provoked greater discussion and inflamed more controversy than slavery. From the arrival of the first Africans at Jamestown in 1619, through the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, to contemporary historical debates, the presence and enslavement of Africans has been defended, attacked and analyzed. Alison Watt and Picasso Essay Example For Students
Alison Watt and Picasso Essay Alison Watt and Picasso In this essay Im going to investigate two portrait painters, Alison Watt and Pablo Picasso. I will be writing about their lives and influences. The first artist I will be writing about is Alison Watt. She was born and raised In Greengrocer in 1965, 18 years later and she is still studying in Glasgow School of Art for a further 5 years. At the national gallery in London Watt was the associate artist holding a spectacular exhibition of her own Phantom in 2008. Watt was well known for portraits of herself and others holding cups plates etc, she came to the publics attention in 1987 when he won an award for the National Portrait Gallerys. Watt was also well known for drawing female nudes and figures usual neutral colors, dryly painted lost of her portraits were done using oil paint on a canvas. As far as I am aware Alison Watt was known for painting portraits I have not heard of watt sculpting. She was also awarded an OBEY, she was the youngest female artist to be awarded a solo exhibition at SIGMA. Alison Watt was quite original she interpreted her own ideas in her into paintings. Such as the paintings Hunger and the horses head l. This paintings watt has duplicated herself and she has also placed random niter s in Radio places. The Alison watt painting I will be writing about is The native boy, It was made in 1990, made with oil paint on a board. Alison Watt has modeled herself Im this painting, I chose this painting because its very neutral and doesnt have too much going on. This portrait is close up so you cant see of the sitter is sitting or standing it Just shows the face and neck. I would say everything in the portrait is mostly all the same proportion in terms of scale. N the background it was Just some simple leaves and what looks like to be a wall. The foreground and the background dont look Joined together it looks like Watt is standing in front of something. You can only see the top parts of the sitter and the background as it is a close up. The only thing thats being cut out is the rest of the figure. I think if I was there whilst this being painted you could smell nature and paint. You could probably here birds chirping and the wind blowing as it looks like an area where you would hear these surroundings. It looks as painted around midday. It does seem like a calm place and a very peaceful place . The lighting on the face is quite bright but the background is darker. I think it is a natural light. The light is coming from straight in and because if this I think it is during the day almost evening, but also I think it is winter because it looks quite cold. The light does cast shadows around the face I think its there to show some form and atmosphere, so the face doesnt look flat. The mood in this painting is quite dull and dreary and Watt doesnt look very happy , which I think has an effect on what the DOD which comes across as winter. Although sometimes winter is bright it will always has that effect which makes the atmosphere dull and tense. The expression on Alison Watt definitely has an effect on the mood of the painting because it Just looks as if shes depressed and wants to cry. The sitters position is unrecognizable as you cant see the shoulders all that you see is the neck and above the only way you can tell the mood is by the facial expression. As mentioned you cant see the sitters clothes but from the hairstyle it looks quite classy and old fashioned. I think the artist hose the color scheme because it isnt a very complex painting So the color of the painting being neutral I believe is relevant to the painting. Watts brush stokes in the background are part of the painting they are almost unseen , it almost looks edited to look smooth, but the face is more textural you can see a few brushstrokes. .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7 , .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7 .postImageUrl , .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7 , .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7:hover , .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7:visited , .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7:active { border:0!important; } .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7:active , .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7 .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u52c156f5196ef5d3a63d47ef539172e7:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Pablo Picasso Founder Of Cubism EssayAlso on the face you can see where it has tried to be blended. I think the brush strokes are looser on the background and more controlled on the face etc where you need detail. I am oblivious to how much time was spent on This painting as they are to skilled be able o tell. But, personally I think Watt may have spent less time on this painting compared to the other painting. As this painting isnt as complex and not extremely detailed. The piece itself I would say is textural but around the cheekbones you can see dots/dabs used to blend the cheek and skin color. Watt seems to have used life like style or realistic, because it doesnt look fake and are elements where it Just looks airbrushed. Neutral colors have been used in this painting. I think Watt used these colors to give it the look of a real person. I think because of these colors that is why t made me decide the painting realistic/lifelike piece. I dont think they have am effect on the mood or atmosphere. Also I think the color scheme makes parts of the face such as the nose and mouth stand out. I honestly couldnt choose between whether this image is hot or cold. At the first look I would definitely say cold but if you look closer at the painting the face gives it a warm sensation. Watt used pattern in empty and dull areas. Pattern was used well around the face using leaves and curls. Also where there is a big plain space of wall a ribbon has been added and I hint without these features it would be really empty. The pattern used was regular and uniform nothing is out of the ordinary. In this painting the pattern is subtle. Although there is no definite outline ,you can see the different shapes and where watt has used two different colors side by side with a crisp edge. I think the painting is really bland. There is nothing really interesting going on. It is really amazing though how good an artist is when they make it look so simple. I think Watt is good but I dislike this painting. I dont think this is the best piece Alison Watt has done, cause the rest have something interesting In it which makes you remember it and makes you wonder about the painting. The other artist Im going to investigate is Pablo Picasso. Picasso was a Spanish artist, boor in 1881 who was the son of an art teacher and showed artistic talent at a very young age. When Picasso was 19 he went to live in Paris to study new styles and to pick up new styles. The blue period was a famous period of Picasso. As the color blue symbolisms depression, when Picasso best friend committed suicide Picasso went into deep depression this is what was now as the blue period, where all the paintings are in shades of blue, have religious undertones and the subject matter is unhappy in nature. In 1973 Picasso was taken from us and he was one of the most famous artists of the 20th century. During Picasso blue period it was his friend Casemate who influenced Picasso. During the rose period when mostly shades of pink were used he was experimenting with gouache , the subject of matter was the circus and during the cubist period it was ad African masks which influenced Picasso. The cubist period was when Picasso id his most original work , he took simple African masks which inspired him and turned them into paintings which are famous today. These kind of painting break away from the rules regarding realism and perspective. Some of the faces are distorted. Picasso was only known for doing portrait and figure paintings to my knowledge. Oil paint on canvas is Picasso most chosen way to work. The art work I will be focusing on is the weeping woman. It was made in 1907. Im not able to tell what size the artwork is. I do not know the name of the sitter nor do I now that its actually a person who Picasso has Just made into his own idea or whether he painted this from his head. .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f , .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f .postImageUrl , .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f , .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f:hover , .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f:visited , .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f:active { border:0!important; } .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f:active , .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u734bec045ece4c003a2c8e3a8178672f:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Painting Nude Figure By Pabblo Picasso EssayI chose this painting because I painted it in primary school and its his most known painting or the only painting I had ever heard of. The portrait is full length and the figure in the painting is in able to tell if she is sitting or standing as you can only see the top half of her body but Im assuming shes sitting. It is a close up and the head takes up most of the portrait so the head is definitely the biggest object in the painting. In the background it is Just simply a wall. The foreground and background do look Joined together because the woman isnt ad. You can see a bit of the sitter and a bit of the background. I can Just see a cartoon woman crying that is literally all I think if I was to imagine myself in the painting. I can hear a woman crying and smell lots of paint. You cant tell the time because it isnt a realistic painting. Im guessing something has happened as there is a woman in tears, it feels awkward and depressing , not a very nice place to be. There is no lighting in the painting. I think the mood and atmosphere is sad and awkward. Its expression and the body language of the sitter also the painting itself is about a woman crying. I would describe the mood of the sitter as upset and you cant see the shoulders. You can see spate hands as if she was holding a tissue up to her face to wipe her nose/eyes. She is multicultural I cant see any of her clothes. I have no idea why Picasso chose this color scheme. The artists style is cartoonist and abstract to me. You cant see the brushstrokes. I dont think he worked on this painting as long as he did the others, he others Just look as if they have been thought through more carefully. The painting is flat, I dont know what textures have been used.
